When this 2008 Mustang Shelby 500GT owner came to Will Oakley at Inked Wraps, he knew he wanted a refresh to his basic black car. The team was given some creative liberty when it came to the design. He desperately wanted a unique look.
That’s when Will and his team got to work. They chose a 3M 2080 series metallic film, which is directional, so the installers all took special care to ensure the application was precise and the pieces matched up all across the vehicle.
The showstopper on this design, though, was the cobra underlay. Essentially, a cobra graphic was printed in white, applied to the hood, and then cut out and replaced with a satin black film over top of it.
This made for a sleek design with dimension that pops at different angles of light. For consistency and intentionality, the team carried these satin black accents across other parts of the vehicle, such as the roof, the gas cap door, and the rear spoiler.
With tinted headlights and taillights, the entire vehicle is blacked out and it looks phenomenal. This Mustang Shelby 500GT also came to us with a custom fiberglass hood cowl. Wrapping that in the same satin black as the cobra design really contributed to the stealthy style.
With all the sexy angles this vehicle has, it was no easy task to apply the 3m metallic film! In fact, the hood itself took three tries! But that’s only because Inked Wraps guarantees a quality job done right. And a quality job starts with quality materials and ends with meticulous installation.
